It is with great pride and honor we announce our representation of the 501(C)(3) nonprofit, Mississippi Therapy Animals. This organization, based out of Lena, Mississippi, educates, trains, and utilizes animals for various therapy services throughout the nation. In addition to visiting schools, hospitals, and veteran's homes with their dogs, parrots, and alpacas, Director Katrinna Miller also works with courts and other institutions to place facility dogs in their care full-time.

Here’s something you need to know about mental health advocate, service dog handler, and lawyer Amber Sheppard. She has never marched the beat of any drum except her own.

Amber’s approach to educating and consulting with businesses and organizations and serving the community is no different. Whether you’re a family needing advocacy on behalf of your working dog or a company needing to integrate ADA compliant policies and procedures, she has set out to prove you can be an advocate for your community and teach about “boring” topics while still maintaining your humanity, humility, and humor.

Before becoming a full time attorney licensed in Louisiana and Mississippi, Amber was a Director of Operations for a national company and SEO content whiz. Oh and she’s a strength sport athlete and nonprofit founder too. She organized Olympic weightlifting in Mississippi with Tyler Smith (Mississippi Barbell) and developed international medalists.

Amber’s passion shows in her practice, having helped “mom and pop” shops, international brands, and local nonprofits. Always one to give back, Amber launched a small business webinar series infusing humor into legal topics beneficial to start ups and large brands. That was when she learned she had the “gift of gab”: she could make participants laugh while teaching them about boring legal stuff.

Amber and her service dog Tubbs travel the world educating businesses, organizations, and residents on business law, mental health, and service dog/animal therapy laws. Most recently she has been a presenter for various continuing education courses for social workers, counselors, and attorneys on service dog/therapy animal laws.

Amber’s passion is writing and educating: she has been published over twenty times in state, national, and international publications as it pertains to legal issues that affect business owners or service dog handlers. She has also submitted Amicus Curiae Briefs on behalf of various dog rescues in Louisiana.

Amber has been named to 40 Under 40 and Best Attorney in East St. Tammany Parish by EDGE Magazine readers in 2020, 2021, and 2022. She was featured in Sophisticated Woman Magazine's September 2021 issue as a top Northshore Attorney and writes a bi-monthly column on Working Dog Laws for the publication.

In her spare time Amber is a board member for Mississippi Barbell and East St. Tammany Habitat For Humanity, loves dressing Tubbs up in costumes, and visiting assisted living homes and courthouses with Tubbs.
